High school courses for students in grades 10-12
CIS offers a range of curricula, including the Canadian Alberta high school curriculum, the American AP courses, and the British A-level courses, laying a solid foundation for admission into top universities globally. In addition, the school has established the CIS Creative Design Academy (CCDA) to provide high-quality academic support and comprehensive college planning for students aspiring to pursue top creative design and arts majors in the world's leading universities.
Alberta High School Curriculum
The core subjects of the Alberta curriculum at CISFS include English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, Mandarin, Social Studies, Physical Education, Fine Arts, Health, and Life Skills. In higher grade levels, technology education is be included. At different stages of a student's age, the subject content will have different teaching characteristics and objectives.
The credit system offers flexibility and personalized learning paths, allowing students to select courses based on their interests and objectives and complete credit requirements at their own pace and capability. After earning the required credits for graduation, CISFS graduates will receive a globally recognized Alberta High School Diploma from the Alberta Ministry of Education, a strong endorsement for entry into the world’s top universities.
A-level Curriculum
The A-level curriculum is central to the British education system and is recognized by most universities worldwide. It not only provides students with a rich knowledge base and skill set but also emphasizes personalized learning. Students can choose the most suitable subject combination based on their interests and future goals, focusing on 3 to 4 subjects over two years to delve deeply into their chosen fields, emphasizing depth over breadth. The flexibility of the A-level curriculum is one of its key characteristics.
