As the autumn breeze of September deepens, carrying with it the joy of harvest and the beginning of a new journey, CIS welcomed the "Dragon Soaring, Joyful Moon" Oriental Innovation Festival and Curriculum Night.


This event not only showcased the unique charm of Oriental culture but also reflected CIS's innovation and integration in international education. Teachers, students, parents, and distinguished guests gathered to witness the fusion of CIS's educational philosophy with cultural innovation.

Remarks from Leaders:
A Shared Vision for the Future
At this event, the entire CIS community, including students, teachers, and parents, gathered together. CIS had the honor of inviting many distinguished guests and leaders, whose speeches brought warm wishes and high hopes, lighting the way for CIS's future development.
The speakers included:
Wang Dehua, Secretary of the Beijiao Town Party Committee
Wang Dehua, the Party Secretary of Beijiao Town, explained that the introduction of CIS to Beijiao was driven by the appeal of CIS's globally accredited international curriculum, an excellent management team, and a comprehensive educational system spanning from kindergarten to high school. Secretary Wang emphasized that CIS is the first international school for expatriate children in Shunde District, which will help Beijiao Town become a leading educational hub in the Greater Bay Area and enhance its attractiveness to international talent. Secretary Wang concluded by expressing the hope to collaborate with the school in the future to explore new pathways and create new models for nurturing globally innovative talents, aiming to build new heights in education.

CIS Governor:
Dr. Howard Strabell
Governor Dr.Howard provided a detailed analysis of the profiles of the many outstanding alumni nurtured by the CIEO Group. This includes their GPA over three years of high school, provincial exam scores, school positions, activities, competitions, and final university offers. Through the profiles we can see that students are accepted to top universities and are also influenced by their passions and personal interests. Our students and parents understand that the path to education is not only about pursuing the prestige of top schools, but also choosing what one is passionate about.
Dr. Howard also announced that this year, to further strengthen the pillar of "academic excellence," we have introduced a powerful advisory team to assist us. Dr. Kuiper, our Academic Director, has over 30 years of experience in the Canadian public education system. Thomas Midbo, a former Alberta Education official and long-time high school principal, along with Mary-Anne Jasinski, a former primary school principal at TIS Macau, now serve as dedicated advisors for our students and teachers in Foshan.

CIS Head of School:
Nathan Gray
Nathan Gray expressed his gratitude to the families enrolled at CIS for their trust and support, reaffirming the school’s commitment to academic excellence and personalized care. In addition to providing students with an outstanding academic experience, CIS also enhances their English proficiency and overall skills through the free After School Activities (ASA) program. He specifically highlighted the launch of the school’s golf, music, and arts programs, which will offer students diverse development opportunities and a broader international perspective.

CIS Elementary Principal:
Lynne-Marie
In her speech, Principal Lynne-Marie emphasized that the primary mission of the elementary school is to provide a personalized educational experience. She pointed out that every child at CIS Elementary is unique, and the school ensures that each student can fully realize their potential through individualized student development plans.

Head of Creative Design Academy:Ted Sze
Ted stated that the academy focuses on providing students with personalized learning goals and project-based learning opportunities, integrating real-world problems to enhance their skills. The academy not only emphasizes academic development but also fosters essential qualities such as collaboration, communication, and innovative thinking, laying a solid foundation for their future careers.

CIS Students' First Choir Performance
The CIS Boarding Choir brought vibrant performances of the Congolese folk song Banaha and the Latin song Gaudeamus at this event. This marked the first-ever performance by CIS students, whose beautiful and harmonious singing received thunderous applause from the audience.


Homeroom Teacher's Annual Teaching Plan Presentation
Another important part of the day was when parents entered the classrooms of their children's respective grades to engage in in-depth discussions with homeroom and subject teachers. The teachers provided detailed explanations of the learning goals, curriculum content, and teaching plans for the academic year, giving parents a more comprehensive understanding. This sharing session strengthened communication and collaboration between the school and families, laying a solid foundation for the holistic development of the students.
