Recently, China Global Television Network (CGTN) interviewed Kole Hung, the Kindergarten Coordinator at CIS and an educator from Hong Kong. In the interview, she shared her experiences of living and teaching in the Greater Bay Area. Her words not only reflected a warm and thoughtful educational philosophy, but also highlighted the diverse, inclusive, and internationally-minded environment at CIS.
Diversity Thrives,
Education Grows in the GBA
At CIS, local and international teachers work hand in hand, allowing students to learn in a fully English environment while gaining deep exposure to local culture.
"We have daily Mandarin lessons where we learn pinyin and Chinese characters. On Dragon Boat Festival, we even made holiday crafts together."
She said:“Being balanced and also respect the culture is very important.”
In daily life, the convenience and diversity of the Greater Bay Area also bring her a sense of warmth. Compared to the hustle and bustle of Guangzhou, she prefers the pace of Foshan: "The air quality is better, more trees. It’s just not as busy."
Every smile
is a celebration of growth.
On the day of the interview, Kole was rehearsing the graduation ceremony with her graduating class. As she gently guided the children through their positions, she softly reminded them:"Now I gotten be more responsible."
As the principal, she has witnessed the children grow from their timid first day of school to the confident smiles they wear today as they prepare to enter primary school."It’s such an amazing journey... On that day I’ll probably cry." She said it softly—not just as a sentence, but as the deepest expression of an educator’s love for her students’ growth.
