At CIS, we firmly believe that arts education is a key component of students' overall development. This year, CIS is launching its first-ever Fashion Design and Photography courses, and we are honored to invite two experienced mentors from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, who have deep expertise in the arts, to provide professional guidance to our students.
Whether it's the creative expression of fashion design or the capture of light and shadow in photography, these courses will help students find their path in the arts, unleashing their creativity and unique perspectives.

The CIS Fashion Design course is led by Chen Yao, a distinguished instructor with a wealth of experience. Chen holds a Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a Master's degree in Engineering from Xi'an University of Engineering. With 27 years of teaching experience, she is a Senior Lecturer, Senior Artist, Senior Technician, and National Assessor. Chen has also served as the lead designer for several major art projects and has won numerous awards, including the National "Innovation Cup" Teacher Competition First Prize.
Chen’s teaching approach not only emphasizes the transfer of theoretical knowledge but also focuses on the integration of practical skills and creative thinking. Through her carefully designed curriculum, students will experience a seamless blend of creativity and technique.
Course Overview:
Week 1: Introduction to Fashion Design: Understand the differences in Eastern and Western fashion design and explore fashion trends.
Weeks 2-3: Introduction to Draping: Learn draping marking lines and prototype garment creation, mastering basic techniques.
Weeks 4-7: Top Design: From sketch to final product, cultivate creative thinking and practical making skills.
Week 8: Top Showcase: Present design works, enhancing expression and communication skills.
Weeks 9-15: Skirt Design: Learn to cut, design, and create, completing and showcasing a creative skirt.
Under the guidance of Chen Yao, students will receive professional skill training in the Fashion Design course. They will not only master design techniques but also stimulate creative thinking, challenge traditional design boundaries, and develop an innovative design perspective.

Complementing the Fashion Design course, the Photography course is taught by Zhou Yu, a senior photographer. Zhou has extensive experience in photography, having participated in the production of several renowned art films and won awards in various domestic and international visual arts projects.

Course Overview:
Mastering Basic Skills: Learn camera operations, aperture, shutter speed, and depth of field application, gradually mastering the fundamental photography techniques.
Combining Creativity and Practice: From still life to portrait photography, the course will help students develop creative thinking through hands-on shooting.
Portfolio Display and Feedback: Through thematic shooting and portfolio creation, students will showcase their individual works and receive feedback from instructors to further enhance their photography skills.
