CIS ASA | Introducing a top-tier youth football training program, officially recognized as a Spanish Football Education Model School!

This year, CIS’s ASA program proudly introduces the Sestelo Football Training Course, personally designed and led by Mr. Sergio Sestelo— a former Real Madrid academy player, current member of the Real Madrid Veterans Team, and an officially certified coach of the Madrid Football Association in Spain. 

The program is dedicated to nurturing students passionate about football, enhancing their technical skills and teamwork abilities.

All information about Mr. Sergio Sestelo was provided by the organizers of the Sestelo Football Youth Training Camp.

This week, Mr. Sergio Sestelo, together with two distinguished guests — Mr. Jaime Lorenzo, Economic and Commercial Counsellor of the Consulate General of Spain in Guangzhou, and Mr. Samuel Rodriguez, General Manager of the Spain-China Chamber of Commerce — gathered at CIS to present the school with the honor of being recognized as a “Spain Football Education Model School”

At the plaque unveiling ceremony, Executive Principal Mr. Nathan delivered a speech, stating:
“Football is an international language that transcends words — it’s also an education in perseverance, teamwork, and the pursuit of dreams.”

He emphasized that CIS is committed to providing diverse programs that help students grow not only academically but also through sports.

Mr. Sergio Sestelo then shared his personal football journey with the students. He began playing at the age of eight, progressing from a renowned professional player in Spain to a top-certified coach. 

Through his passion and perseverance, he embodies the true spirit of football:“Football is the most comprehensive sport — it requires passion, talent, and great coaching, but most importantly, it teaches us how to find our place within a team.”

Through the Sestelo Youth Football Program, he will bring these top-tier training methods to CIS students, guiding them to reach new heights on the pitch and nurturing the football stars of the future.

In his remarks, Mr. Samuel Rodriguez, General Manager of the Spain-China Chamber of Commerce, highlighted the Chamber’s vital role in promoting sports and cultural exchange between China and Spain. He noted, “Football not only helps children develop teamwork, discipline, and good habits — it also reflects the very core values of education.”

Finally, Counsellor Mr. Jaime Lorenzo addressed the CIS students:“I hope you will have the opportunity to go to Spain, engage closely with local teams, and truly experience the charm of football culture.”

After the plaque ceremony, Mr. Nathan led the guests on a tour of the CIS campus. From the professional sports facilities to the innovative classrooms and the academically rich library, the visitors gained a deep appreciation of CIS’s balanced development in academics, sports, and the arts, highlighting the school’s unique strengths as an international education institution.
