CIS Secondary | A Week of Art, Energy, and Victory

This past week, our secondary school campus was buzzing with an electric new energy- the sound of Dragon pride taking flight! It all culminated in a heart-pounding first home basketball game that will be remembered for seasons to come.

The excitement started building days before the tip-off. To promote the game, we launched a poster design challenge, and the creativity of our students was on full display. We are thrilled to announce that Ivan Ostapenko from Year 9 was the winner with his dynamic design that captured the fierce spirit of our team. His poster set the tone for what was to come.

During our house event, that spirit became a unified voice. For the first time this year, students came together to practice cheers, perfecting the now-famous rallying cry: "Let's go Dragon! Clap, clap, clap-clap-clap!" The sound of our students united was a powerful sign of the community we are building.

Beyond the court, our commitment to community and sustainability continued. Students put the finishing touches on our beautiful Sustainable Trash House Mural, a project that turns waste into wonder and symbolizes our dedication to a greener future. 

None of this momentum would have been possible without the incredible dedication of Coach Mr. K. While tirelessly drilling our basketball team on plays and defense, he was simultaneously preparing our drama students for the upcoming Charity Night Gala production of Romeo and Juliet. His hard work and passion in both arenas are an inspiration to us all.

And on game night? All that preparation paid off in spectacular fashion. In a nail-biting match against the formidable ISA Lions, our Dragons fought with tenacity and heart. The gym was roaring, the chants were deafening, and when the final buzzer sounded, the scoreboard told the story: 

CISFS Dragons 42, ISA Lions 39!

Thank you to every student, parent, and staff member who contributed to this unforgettable week. The score reflects a win on the court, but the true victory is the powerful sense of team spirit that now flows through our hallways.
