At CIS, we believe that education extends far beyond the classroom. When our students connect their thinking with the world, they become not only learners, but also future decision-makers and global citizens.

In November this year, the Young Leaders Model United Nations Summit (YLMUN) will be held globally. The first round of the competition is a selection round open to all students from Grade 4 and aboveNo prior MUN experience is required — studentsonly need an interest in English public speaking and debate to participate.

The Canadian International Education Organization (CIEO) and the Guangdong Jiayou Education Development Foundation will co-host the summit, with multiple schools under their umbrella actively joining the initiative.

As a flagship international school within the CIEO Group, CIS has taken the lead in opening registration, building a bridge of critical thinking for students to step onto the United Nations stage.

Let’s start from CIS — where critical thinking becomes the power of language, and every student has the opportunity to understand the world, express their views, and shape the future on the stage of Model United Nations.

Where Critical Thinking Begins:

Learning to Lead and Speak in the Real World

YLMUN is not just an academic competition — it’s a journey toward becoming a global citizen.

Through writing position papers and drafting resolutions, students learn to analyze global issues, propose solutions, and develop logical thinking and policy awareness within the authentic framework of United Nations procedures.

In simulated Security Council debates and negotiations, they encounter diverse cultural perspectives and standpoints, learning the art of listening, collaboration, and building consensus.

By exploring global issues such as climate change, digital security, and sustainable development, students gradually build a systematic understanding of international affairs — making “seeing the world” an integral part of learning.

In the journey toward international university admissions, MUN experience has become a strong marker of student competitiveness. Statistics show that 82% of students who have received MUN awards have successfully been admitted to top 50 QS-ranked universities.

YLMUN thus serves as a bridge between critical thinking and the future — where students shape their global influence through language, writing, and diplomatic practice.

Three-Stage Journey:

From Campus to the World

YLMUN provides students with a clear growth pathway — from campus to the international stage. The summit will take place from November 2025 to July 2026, consisting of three stages: the National Round, the Asia Round, and the Global Final in Switzerland.

Unlike traditional MUNs, YLMUN emphasizes a transition “from academic simulation to real-world diplomacy.”

The summit invites several seasoned international political figures as academic advisors — experts who have collectively participated in over 200 actual United Nations decision-making sessions.

By learning from experts within the United Nations system, students not only build a systematic understanding of global governance but also learn to connect critical thinking with real-world issues — making every voice more meaningful and powerful.

At CIS, we have always believed that the purpose of education goes beyond imparting knowledge — it is about guiding students to become responsible and creative global citizens.

The YLMUN Youth Leaders Model United Nations Summit is an extension of this philosophy — allowing CIS students to learn to express, understand, and influence through real-world issues. As they raise their voices on the CIS stage, the light of critical thinking illuminates their path toward the future.
