CIS Secondary | Academic and Athletic Triumphs: Outstanding Performances in Model UN and Basketball

This week highlighted the range of learning and growth taking place in our secondary division, both in academic settings and through athletics.

At YLMUN Guangzhou, our students engaged in a rigorous model UN experience that tested their research, speaking, and debate skills. Delegates selected two Sustainable Development Goals, researched the issues, and delivered prepared speeches explaining why these goals matter and how real action can improve lives. 

They then moved into debates on topics such as artificial intelligence and refugee rights. Speaking to a full room of peers and judges required steady composure, and our students approached each stage with focus and maturity.

Their results were a strong reflection of that work. In the secondary division, CIS Foshan earned ALL three top overall awards: first place for Lan (Grade 10 ), second place for Filipp ( Grade 7 ), and third place for Albert (Grade 7). A significant number of our students received recognition in the form of medals: 

Gold Medals： G10 Lan，G7 Filipp

Silver Medals: G7 Albert,G11 Victoria 

Bronze Medals:  G7 JT, G8 Cheney , G10 Maria，G6 Paris Liang ，G5 KAIUS 

Seeing students from different grades step forward, take risks, and earn recognition in a competitive setting was a proud moment for our secondary division. Our students have now qualified for the Asian Championships in February.

Secondary sports added another highlight. Our boys basketball team played a strong opponent, stayed competitive through each quarter, and pushed hard throughout the game. 

Right after, the girls team stepped onto the court and delivered their strongest performance of the season, earning their first home win with a final score of CISF 54 to SAIS 13. Congrats to our girls team for a well earned victory!

These moments showed the steady progress happening across secondary, both in academics and athletics.
