CIS Book Week | "Weekly Reading Recap: Immersed in the World of Literature, Creativity, and Inspiration"
CIS Book Week has come to a wonderful close!
Throughout the week, our campus was filled with the magic of stories as students explored reading through hands-on creations and boundless imagination.
From colorful lollipop bookmarks and playful paper-bag puppets to handcrafted mini books and unique book bags, reading became a joyful and creative experience for everyone.
Book Week is not only a way to nurture students’ lifelong love of learning, but also a chance to spark their creativity through hands-on activities.
In line with CIS’s commitment to “Aademic Excellence and Caring Community,” we focus on every child’s holistic development, encouraging them to explore academically while expressing their unique personalities.
This week’s activities allowed students to experience the joy of reading while inspiring their creativity and self-expression.
Now, let’s look back on this special journey filled with imagination and fun!
Before the official start of CIS Book Week, we hosted a campus book fair to kick off the excitement. The fair featured a wide selection of international books for all age groups—from picture books and original English novels to world classics—offering students a rich variety of reading options.
Through this book fair, students not only broadened their horizons but also gained a deeper appreciation for literature from different cultures and languages. It sparked their curiosity about global stories and encouraged them to explore the world through reading.
Who says reading has to be quiet and still?During Book Week, our Creative Workshops brought stories to life as students transformed what they read into hands-on creations. Through crafting and making, they deepened their understanding of the stories while building practical skills and nurturing their creativity and imagination.
Tiny Bookmarks, Big Creativity!Students designed colorful “lollipop” bookmarks in all shapes and sizes. Using these adorable bookmarks made reading each page even more fun and engaging. Through this hands-on activity, children not only experienced the joy of creativity but also sharpened their attention to detail.
An ordinary paper bag, with a touch of creativity, instantly transforms into a story’s main character! Our little playwrights wrote, directed, and performed with their puppets, bringing vibrant stories to life. This activity sparked their dramatic expression and helped them gain confidence in sharing their ideas.
From story creation to illustration, from cover design to binding, every step was completed by the students themselves, resulting in a mini book all their own—a true sense of accomplishment! This activity not only enhanced their literary skills but also nurtured independent thinking and creative design abilities.
Students painted their favorite book characters and memorable quotes on their book bags, creating unique personal designs. Carrying these bags to school every day makes reading both practical and full of personality! This activity encourages self-expression and helps develop their artistic skills.
In the “Picture Face” challenge, children cleverly aligned book covers with their own faces, creating captivating visual illusions. Through these imaginative pairings, they seemed to step straight into the story, becoming part of the book’s world!
CIS Book Week’s “Book Character Dress-Up Day” transformed the campus into a magical world of stories!
Students came dressed as their favorite book characters—Elsa, Harry Potter, Alice, and other beloved figures filled the campus. This fun and immersive activity allowed students to deepen their understanding of the books, enjoy role-playing and performance, and showcase their creativity and confidence.
CIS has always placed great emphasis on reading as an integral part of student growth. Every day, dedicated library time is scheduled to encourage students to explore the school’s extensive book collection. With a library housing tens of thousands of volumes, CIS offers a wide variety of books to meet the interests and needs of students across all age groups.
Book Week activities not only sparked students’ interest in reading but also nurtured their creativity and independent thinking. We encourage students to explore the world of books, cultivate lifelong learning habits, and look forward to them continuing to discover, grow, and enjoy the journey ahead.
