Aaron is not only a seasoned leader in international education, but also a father of three and the author of The 7 Laws of Parenting. In this live session, he will draw from real-life cases in his book to offer parents practical, research-based strategies with a global perspective—covering topics such as parenting styles, setting boundaries, emotional communication, study habits, and strengthening family connections.
01|Challenges and Growth:
Turning Summer “Problems” into Opportunities for Development
Starting from his own parenting philosophy, Aaron will share how parents can turn challenges into growth opportunities during the “high-risk” parent-child period of summer break:
“Parenting is messy, unpredictable, and sometimes downright humbling. But here's the truth: the better we get at it, the better prepared our children will be.”
He will also explore different parenting styles, including:
-
Authoritative:
High expectations, high responsiveness. Parents set clear rules while also listening to and respecting their children.
-
Authoritarian:
High expectations, low responsiveness. Parents focus on discipline and obedience, with little attention to emotional needs.
-
Permissive:
Low expectations, high responsiveness. Parents set few boundaries and are overly lenient with their children.
-
Uninvolved:
Low expectations, low responsiveness. Parents are neither strict nor emotionally engaged.
He will also cover how to identify and respond to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)—traumatic events in childhood such as domestic violence, abuse, loss of a loved one, or parental separation—which can have a lasting impact on a child’s mental health and future well-being.

02|Screen Time Management:
From Conflict to Consensus
In the digital age, screen time has become a major challenge in family education. Aaron will share the “Path of Moderation”:
“Moderation isn’t punishment—it’s wisdom. In a world of excess, ‘enough’ is a superpower.”
He will introduce how he uses the “Screen Time Jar” method to help children overcome gaming addiction; discuss the importance and practice of creating “Tech-free Zones” at home; and propose a “mind-body-spirit balance” approach to support teens in escaping social media overload and regaining a healthier lifestyle.
He also emphasizes:
“The Law of Language reminds us that our words shape our children’s identities.”
When setting rules, use respectful and clear language instead of blame or labels, so children feel the trust behind the boundaries.

03|Empowering
the Future Beyond Exams
Facing children’s emotional ups and downs after exams, Aaron emphasizes: "Real world problem solving beats perfect grades." In the upcoming live session, he will introduce the concepts of the “Failure Résumé” and "T-shaped Kids" to help parents plan their child’s growth more strategically during the summer, easing parenting anxiety.

04|Parent-Child Repair:
Connection Over Control
“Parenting isn’t about control—it’s about connection.”
This summer, as family routines are disrupted, Aaron will share how to quickly rebuild parent-child connection with the "3:2:1 Parenting Rhythm" and the "5-Minute Fix." He’ll also introduce the "Apology Template" and the "Modeling Rule" to help children develop responsibility and emotional regulation.

“Progress, not perfection.”
-
“You’re not behind. You’re becoming.”
