Course Theme Description
This Art and Design course focuses on Surrealism, an artistic style that emerged in the early 20th century. It breaks free from the constraints of conventional reality, delving into dreams, the subconscious, and fantastical worlds.
Students deeply explore the core principles of Surrealism, combining elements of reality and the unreal, transformation and displacement, symbolism and metaphor to create artwork filled with wonder and mystery. In the classroom, they unleash their imagination, challenge logical thinking, and present the fusion of "dreams" and "reality" through their creations, exploring the essence of reality and the boundaries of the unreal in art.

Serena's Work
This piece employs surrealist techniques, transforming an eye into the silhouette of a fish body, seamlessly merging it with fish tail elements. The meticulous pencil sketching captures the delicate texture of the eye, while the vibrant fish tail is rendered using colorful crayons or oil pastels, creating a striking contrast.
The fusion of the eye and fish tail breaks the boundaries of reality, crafting a mysterious and fluid surreal image, symbolizing the convergence of observation and subconscious reflection.
Maria's Work
This artwork creatively blends natural landscapes with human figures, replacing facial features with lakes, lotus flowers, waterfalls, and distant mountains to symbolize inner tranquility and the vitality of nature. The golden hair, outlined in bold black lines, adds a decorative flair, enhancing visual impact.
The background elements, such as the blue sky, palm trees, and greenery, harmonize with the natural motifs in the figure’s head. The vibrant colors and playful patterns on the outfit further enrich the composition, delivering a balance of symbolism and surrealist charm.
