CIS has always been committed to enhancing students' artistic literacy and design thinking, encouraging them to broaden their horizons and explore art and culture. This week, CIS secondary school students stepped out of the classroom and visited the He Art Museum in Shunde for a unique learning experience.
Visiting the He Art Museum,
experiencing the fusion
of architecture and art.
Students visited the He Art Museum, a building designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando, which stands out for its modern minimalist style fused with nature. The central double-spiral staircase and skylight design cleverly bring natural light into the interior, creating a unique spatial atmosphere.

The museum’s guide provided a detailed introduction to the design philosophy and details of the He Art Museum. Students deeply appreciated how the architecture blends with the artworks, together creating a unique artistic experience.

In-depth appreciation of
two major exhibitions,
experiencing the beauty
of different forms of art.
In addition to visiting the He Art Museum’s architecture, students also explored Zhang Yunyao’s "Palace of Alienation" and Bosco Sodi’s "Beyond Wilderness" exhibitions.
Zhang Yunyao's"Palace of Alienation"
The artwork uses graphite pencils and white felt as mediums, delicately depicting the interaction between monkeys and natural landscapes.
Through fine lines and shadows, it reveals the subtle relationship between animals and their environment. By appreciating the work, students learned how special materials and artistic methods can convey deep reflections on the relationship between ecology and humanity, exploring the coexistence and conflict between humans and nature.

Bosco Sodi’s "Beyond Wilderness"
Bosco Sodi’s exhibition is centered around natural elements, showcasing his paintings and sculptures created using natural materials such as wood shavings, clay, and volcanic rock. His works are presented with simple forms and a limited color palette.

The guide specifically pointed out that some of the installations in the exhibition are made up of thousands of bricks produced by the Nanfeng Ancient Kiln in Foshan. Each brick carries unique cracks and colors, symbolizing the interaction and coexistence between humans and nature.
These two exhibitions not only provide students with diverse artistic experiences but also inspire them to think and explore art creation in new and different ways.

Personally experience handcraft
art creation, unleashing creativity.
In the practical session of the art appreciation class, students also participated in handcraft art creation, using materials like sand and pearls to make sculptures. Through hands-on creation, students experienced the joy of artistic expression, sparked their creativity, and were able to combine what they learned in class with practical application, truly experiencing the charm of the creative process.

This art appreciation class took students out of the classroom and into the world of art beyond textbooks. As part of CIS education, such activities encourage students to draw inspiration from different forms of art, enhancing their artistic appreciation and creative abilities.
CIS will continue to offer more practical activities, sparking students’ creative potential and helping them express themselves with greater confidence and understanding in their future learning and lives.
