Our Children at CIS | From timidity to confidence, naturally bloom in respect

At the recent CIS Kindergarten Year-End Awards Ceremony, Yanan, mother of K5 student Jayden, shared a heartfelt message about her child’s incredible growth over the past year. Though Jayden has only been at CIS for one year, he has made remarkable progress in communication, emotional expression, and social skills—quietly laying a strong foundation for his future learning journey.

Here’s an excerpt from her speech—witness this authentic, priceless transformation through three key dimensions: academic growth, emotional development, and social skills.
Academic Growth
From Shyness to Confidence,
the Seed of Expression
Quietly Sprouts
Jayden's mom shared, “He had got chances to perform and speak on stage.” These experiences became key stepping stones in helping him overcome language barriers and build confidence in self-expression.

From storytelling to group performances, Jayden gradually learned to speak in front of others — and slowly earned his place on stage.
As she put it, “With every experience, he became more confident.”Each showcase was a step forward, and every small success helped prepare him for even bigger stages ahead.

At CIS, "Academic Excellence" goes beyond mastering knowledge — it's about developing the whole child. Through a rich language environment, interdisciplinary learning, and real-world expression opportunities, we focus not just on ability, but also on confidence and willingness to express. Jayden’s growth is a powerful reflection of our student-centered and personalized approach to education.
Emotional Growth
Building Inner Strength
Through Love and Trust
Jayden once felt uneasy and nervous facing small setbacks at school, but he didn’t give up. “Jayden bravely handled small challenges like sewing a scratch with teachers caring.”With teachers’ care and encouragement, he bravely faced challenges like sewing a scratch and learned the warmth of being supported.

This emotional growth also shows in his family life: “He lovingly helped his grandpa and was praised. School teaches him the value of family.” In daily life, he learns to care for elders and offers help proactively. This inner change surprises parents—they see their child learning how to love and be loved.
As a mother said, “He is learning the beauty of caring and being cared for.” At CIS, we value children’s social and emotional growth, creating a space where they feel understood and accepted. This nurturing environment helps them build self-awareness and emotional resilience—growth that takes time but shapes a lifetime.

Social Skills
Finding Your Place in the Group
and Respecting Others
Jayden is a highly adaptable child.“Jayden made new friends on the very first day.” This proactive social skill opened the door for him to explore the campus community.

His mother also noticed his growth with peers: “He learned to respect others and enjoy group time.”Through group activities, games, and celebrations, he gradually developed respect for others, embraced differences, and found a sense of belonging.
“Playing, celebrating, and learning together.”At CIS, social skills are woven into everyday learning. Through cooperative games, festive events, and project-based activities, children develop communication, listening, and teamwork skills. We believe that when children feel safe in social settings, they become more confident to explore and excel in their learning.

Home and School Together
Mutual Support to Safeguard
Every Step of Your Child's Journey
Jayden’s progress owes much to the close cooperation between family and school. “After every break, he shared his stories with teachers and classmates.” This willingness to express himself and connect emotionally reflects his strong sense of security.

More importantly, Jayden’s mom knows that “parents and teachers working closely together” is the key to a child’s steady growth.
“Children feel supported by both their teachers and families.” At CIS, we believe that when schools and families communicate openly and trust each other, children feel supported by both teachers and parents. We respect families’ deep understanding of their children and encourage parents to actively participate in school life. Only with this strong partnership can children truly move forward with confidence.

Multiculturalism
Understanding Cultural Identity
in International Curriculum
“Lion dancing, mooncake making, writing Spring Festival couplets.” Jayden experienced rich Chinese cultural traditions this year — from lion dancing and mooncake making to writing Spring Festival couplets. Through hands-on activities, students connect deeply with culture and customs, building meaningful emotional bonds.
At CIS, we believe true international education goes beyond language and content — it’s about shaping values and cultural identity. Our motto remains: rooted locally, reaching globally.

A Year Short but Change Lasting
Jayden’s story reflects the growth of every student and truly embodies CIS’s educational philosophy. Here, every child is seen, understood, and encouraged. His confidence comes from being trusted; his transformation, a natural result of being respected.
This year may just be the beginning, but the seeds of growth have already taken root. CIS remains committed to “Academic excellence, Caring Community,” providing tailored education that lights the way for each unique child’s future.
