Academic Excellence|Three-Way Conference Day: Tracing Every Step of Your Child’s Growth

This Thursday, CIS held its annual Parent–Teacher–Student Conference Day. It was more than just a simple home–school meeting — it was an important opportunity for parents, teachers, and students to come together and create a personalized learning journey for every child.

Individualized Conversations
for Every Family
Unlike traditional parent meetings, CIS conferences are held with each family individually, allowing face-to-face conversations with the homeroom teacher and LP. Parents can also schedule appointments with subject teachers according to their child’s learning needs, receiving feedback and advice from multiple perspectives. This cross-disciplinary, multi-role communication reflects CIS’s signature feature — Caring Community.
Before the meetings, teachers made thorough preparations:
· Compiled each student’s learning portfolio and classroom observations;
· Reviewed every child’s strengths and challenges;
· Align with students’ self-set learning goals and clarify their progress toward achieving them;
·Ensured every conversation focused on the child’s personal growth.
Parents are not only listeners but also active participants and partners in the educational journey. Such open dialogue helps parents gain a deeper understanding of their children’s development and provide more effective support. At the same time, it allows students to feel seen and valued,recognize their own growth and direction, and make their progress truly visible and meaningful.
Kindergarten|Understanding
Each Child’s Unique
“Rhythm of Growth”
At the CIS Early Years stage, the three-way conferences emphasize communication focused on emotional development and personal growth.
The parents of Gwendolyn, a Pre-K2 student, greatly appreciated this approach.
Mother: “I really like this form of conference because it helps me better understand my child’s learning at school. Through the one-on-one talk with the teacher, I can see her progress in class and better support her learning at home.”

Father:“What I like about the Parent-Teacher Conference is that it helps me understand my child’s progress at school. It’s great to see where he’s doing well and where he can improve. The one-on-one talk with the teacher really builds trust and helps us support his learning better.”

Kole, the Kindergarten Principal and K Class Homeroom Teacher, shared:
“I think the Parent-Teacher Conference is a great time for us to connect with families. It helps us understand each child better and share how they’re learning and growing every day. When parents and teachers work together, children truly thrive.”

Through careful observation, teachers share each child’s progress in areas such as social interaction, communication, and exploration, helping parents understand that “learning” is not only about acquiring knowledge but also about developing emotional and social skills. During the conference, all three parties also briefly review the child’s previously self-set goals, celebrating each step of their growth together.
Primary School|
Precise Feedback,
Visible Progress
Before the conferences, teachers in the Primary Division carefully prepared individualized growth reports for each student—covering academic progress, learning habits, and collaboration skills. Every detail reflected the teachers’ dedication and attention. At the same time, they reviewed each student’s self-set learning goals, assessing progress and outlining directions for further support.
Cathy, the parent of Milli, a K5 student, shared:
“I believe the Parent–Teacher Conference strengthens the communication between school and families. Teachers discuss each child’s specific situation with parents, helping us better understand their performance at school, character development, and social interactions. This kind of communication not only builds parents’ confidence but also truly brings CIS’s personalized education philosophy to life.”

Nancy, whose two children both study in the CIS Primary Section, also shared:
“This warm and detailed way of communication makes us, as parents, deeply realize that our children’s progress is not a coincidence—it’s the result of joint effort between home and school. Through these discussions, we also gain a clearer understanding of where our children need more support in the next stage.”

Michelle, the Grade 6 Homeroom Teacher, shared:
“What I like most about the Parent-Teacher Conference is that we can talk about each child individually. Every student is unique, and this meeting helps us plan how to support their personal learning journey.”

Parents not only received feedback on their children’s academic performance but also heard about the small moments of progress and highlights from classroom learning. Through goal reviews, they gained a clearer view of their children’s self-driven growth and development journey.
Secondary School|
Deepening Dialogue,
Connecting to the Future
In the Secondary Section, the Parent–Teacher–Student Conferences took communication to a deeper level.
In addition to meetings with subject teachers, the school also organized an Overseas University Fair, inviting representatives from 25 universities around the world to interact with students and parents, answering questions about higher education and university applications.
This rich form of dialogue not only helped parents better understand their children’s academic progress but also gave students a broader perspective for planning their future.
Nas, the mother of Grade 7 student Filipp, shared:“The Parents-Teachers Conference helped me understand my child’s growth at school. It was great to discuss areas I didn’t fully understand with the teachers. It’s a very effective way to get direct feedback on how to support my child’s learning.”

As Sociology Teacher Alex shared:“What I value most about parent-teacher conferences is the opportunity for teachers and parents to connect with each other. Parents and teachers share the same goal, which is student growth, and it's a great opportunity for us to share our perspectives with each other so that we can make sure that students are achieving academically but also growing as people in a holistic way.”
This meaningful form of dialogue not only allows parents to clearly see their child’s progress by reviewing self-set academic and personal growth goals, but also provides a broader perspective for future planning—making each student’s growth path clearer and more purposeful.
Communication as a Bridge:
Making Every Step of
a Child’s Growth Visible
The three-way conference is more than just a conversation between parents and teachers—it is an integral part of CIS’s educational culture. Through this ongoing, open, and collaborative dialogue, we build bridges of communication that unite home and school in supporting each child’s growth. CIS firmly believes that the power of education comes from understanding—and true understanding begins with communication!
