CIS Summer Camp | CIS Summer Camp Phase 2 Review: Ode to Summer Joy, Growth at the Right Time

The scorching July sun brought the second session of the CIS Summer Camp as scheduled. Although the course structure remains the same as the first session, a group of brand-new children enter the classroom - they have different paces, personalities and ways of expression.
For this reason, even if the course content is similar, we will adjust the teaching methods and guiding pace according to the characteristics of the students, so that every child can explore, express and grow in a way that suits them.
Kindergarten Stage
English Expression Starts with Sensory Exploration
The CIS summer camp for the kindergarten stage still revolves around "immersive language environment + interesting sensory exploration". But in the face of this batch of freshmen, we re-examined the state of each child and adjusted the teaching pace and guidance methods.

●Some children initially observe quietly in the corner and are reluctant to participate in group activities. The teachers guided them bit by bit during the daily morning ELA activities. On the second and third days, they finally raised their hands voluntarily and answered the first question with simple English words.

●Some children always hesitate and dare not take action during activities until they complete a whole piece of work with the accompaniment of their teachers and gather the courage to share it in front of their teachers and classmates.

●In the Field Trip, students put on white coats and have a close-up experience: listen to professional lectures, experience oral examinations, practice hands-on operations, cultivate a healthy lifestyle, and become little guardians of health.

●At this stage, what we focus on is not "how much knowledge has been learned", but whether the child has established a sense of security in exploration and trust in expression.

Although they are young, their reaction to growth is extremely fast. The courses may seem similar, but the changes that actually occur in every child cannot be replicated.
Elementary School Stage
Express in Inquiry,
Grow in Expression
The summer camp courses in the primary school stage continue to offer diverse contents such as ELA language learning, interdisciplinary UOI exploration, STEAM projects, art, baking, dance and sports activities, and are still carried out in an all-English environment.
However, in the face of a batch of brand-new students in the second summer camp, we made targeted adaptations and guidance in our teaching methods.
●Some students are better at independent thinking in class. We provide more space for individual feedback and autonomous expression.

●Some students are more active and willing to interact. We have set up more group cooperation and hands-on practice sections.

●In the UOI thematic exploration course, students freely express their opinions around different themes, either in writing or through artistic creation, presenting their thoughts.

●In the STEAM experiment class, there are also moments when people insist on retrying after the first failure. In swimming and sports activities, students exercise their bodies through repeated attempts and challenges, and also practice their emotional management and cooperation skills.

●During the Field Trip of the summer camp, children entered the dental clinic to learn about the structure of teeth and care knowledge, and enhanced their health awareness in practice.

The class schedule is the same, but we never worry that the children's reactions will be the same. For this reason, teaching must also constantly change to respond to children's individual differences, interest tendencies and cognitive rhythms.
Every Stage of Growth
Is Irreplaceable
From kindergarten to primary school, from morning reading classes to baking experiences, from science experiments to community study Tours, we have witnessed students of different ages exploring the world, expressing themselves and building connections in their own ways within the same framework.
These real changes that have occurred - one opening of the mouth, one collaboration, one shift in thinking - constitute the most touching educational achievements of these two weeks.

The second phase of the CIS summer camp has been successfully concluded. Thank you to every new child and family who has joined us, giving us the opportunity to once again respond to the growth rhythm of each unique individual with the professionalism and passion of teaching.
The same course, but different of you. We are well aware that every such encounter deserves to be recorded.
