Mr. Darran Lorne describes himself with three keywords: Purposeful, Relational, and Integrity. These words provide a clear insight into his educational philosophy.

Purposeful
Regarding the first keyword, Purposeful, Mr. Darran stated that every decision the school makes comes from its mission and vision: “Innovate Today, Lead Tomorrow .”
This is also his starting point for understanding school leadership: decisions should be guided by a shared direction and by what is best for students.

When discussing CIS’s curriculum, Mr. Darran mentioned that the school offers the Alberta curriculum from Canada, the Cambridge program from the UK, and is also a candidate IB PYP school. He described this combination as “The combination is perfect.” This integration reflects CIS’s distinct international education characteristics and provides students with multiple pathways for future education.
Relational
The second keyword is Relational. Mr. Darran believes that education is built on close connections. As he said in the interview: “I get to know all of my students and all my parents.”He wants to engage with students, understand their families, and work closely with the teaching team.

In his view, CIS is not simply a school that students attend; it is a family in which students, parents, teachers, and the school team work together. Choosing CIS is not just about selecting a curriculum; it is about joining a family that collectively supports children’s development.
Integrity
The third keyword is Integrity. Mr. Darran believes that Integrity and Relationship are inseparable. True trust comes from relationships built on integrity.
He wants parents to know that the school always puts students first. “I have the best interest of your child.” For him, this means making decisions based on what is best for each child academically, socially, emotionally, and in terms of character building.

Mr. Darran Lorne has over 30 years of experience in education and has witnessed the diverse growth journeys of many students. In the interview, he shared the story of a former student, a national-level rugby player in Canada, who could not attend school regularly due to long-term training and competitions. The school, in collaboration with his parents and coach, developed a personalized academic program to help him graduate successfully and continue to university while pursuing his athletic career.

This story reflects Mr. Darran Lorne’s belief that meaningful support begins with understanding each student’s individual needs, strengths, challenges, and future goals, and working with families to find the most suitable way forward.
Education is not only about a single academic result; it is about recognizing the child’s holistic growth in academics, social skills, emotions, and character.
Mr. Darran looks forward to parents visiting CIS more often and sincerely invites them: “I will personally welcome you.”
