China is renowned for its eight major cuisines: Shandong, Sichuan, Cantonese, Jiangsu (Huaiyang), Fujian, Zhejiang, Hunan, and Anhui. However, if there were to be a "ninth cuisine," the "school cafeteria cuisine" would undoubtedly take the title! 

It not only captivates students' appetites but also carries the hopes and expectations of parents.

To enhance the quality of campus dining, the Canadian International Educational Organization (CIEO) has been hosting the Master Chef Competition for six consecutive years, providing a platform for chefs from its schools to showcase their creativity and skills.

In the recently concluded sixth edition of the competition, CIS Foshan made its debut and impressively won first prize, demonstrating its passion and excellence in culinary arts!

First Prize Creations: 

A Culinary Journey Across Cultures

The three winning dishes—"Leap of the Carp," "Journey to Egypt," and "Golden Sunrise"—took the audience on a flavorful journey that transcended regions and cultures, from the fresh fish of Shunde's waterways to spiced Egyptian roasted beef, and finally to a snowy mountain-inspired dessert.

    As a key member of the team, May’s “Golden Sunrise” Ginger Milk Mousse with Bird’s Nest was a standout creation that captured the judges' admiration. By infusing traditional Shunde flavors into modern pastry techniques, she gave a timeless classic a fresh and creative twist.

    “Ginger milk pudding is a cherished childhood memory for me. This time, I reimagined it through baking, hoping to showcase the charm of Shunde cuisine,” said May.
The theme of her work, “Golden Sunrise,” symbolizes light, hope, and optimism. “The golden morning light represents the bright futures of our students and reflects the ever-growing success of our school,” May explained.

She also shared the dedication behind her preparation: “From selecting ingredients to the final touches, every step demands precision. I spent over a month preparing for this competition, working overtime daily to ensure the best results. As a craftsman, I believe staying innovative and continuously learning new techniques is essential. My ultimate goal is to bring more sweet surprises to CIS students in the future.”
