The Path of Creative Design
Principal Shi's creative design journey began with dissatisfaction with the traditional education model. He observed that many excellent students in arts and sciences often fall into monotonous and low-income careers after graduation. It prompted him to choose a different path towards the fields of creativity and design. Firstly, he spent some time at a college affiliated with the University of Hong Kong and found that design education in Hong Kong requires a rapid pace, overly emphasizing vocational skills training while neglecting the cultivation of thinking patterns and creativity. Therefore, he resolutely chose to pursue further studies in the UK and was accepted by the interviewer with an exception. Received undergraduate admission to the University of the Arts London.
Study Abroad
When I was in my third year of college, President Shi luckily met his mentor, Cyril Shing。 He is not only a disciple of Zaha Hadid, but also a co designer of the Guangzhou Opera House. Under Cyril's guidance, Principal Shi gradually found his own design language and style. In his spare time, Principal Shi also participated in Zaha Hadid's project. During his university years, he actively explored innovative fields. Studied houses that can operate automatically. And published a research report on architecture that allows for self reproduction through autonomous thinking, similar to that of living organisms. With forward thinking ideas and rigorous arguments. In the end, Principal Shi graduated from the University of the Arts London with excellent grades. Obtain undergraduate and graduate degrees.
After graduation, Principal Shi returned to Hong Kong and became a brand consultant for the global fast food chain McDonald's, as well as a design consultant for luxury brands Hermes and LV, participating in the design of storefronts and jewelry. The reason why he was able to explore such an industry is due to the design thinking and creative thinking he learned in university, which can be flexibly applied in various industries.
However, commercial success did not satisfy him. He has always had a dream in his heart, which is to pass on the valuable experience and knowledge he learned in the UK to more people.
